Tips For Chosing The Perfect Black Coffee Table

When we think of interior design in our living space we really focus on larger pieces of furniture and architectural features in the space. These focal points might be the center of attention but you also have to consider the details as well. Something as simple as a black coffee table can transform the look of your room.

I came upon this realization quite by accident after trying a few different looks in my living room. The major features of the room had already been in place for a long time but I couldn’t seem to pull the whole look together. After trying a black coffee table in the room, I finally had the perfect ensemble.

While I was more than open to trying different pieces of accent furniture including storage ottomans as options for the space I was kind-of apprehensive about adding a black coffee table to the room. The item seemed way too sleek and modern and the specific model my husband chose was shiny.

The shiny black coffee table just didn’t seem right for the overall look I was trying to achieve in the space. The antiques in the space as well as the brown leather couch just wouldn’t pair with an elegant black coffee table. However, I was at a loss after considering the other options.

My husband finally took the plunge and just bought the black coffee table that he originally pointed out for me. I was taken by surprise by this because he made no mention of the purchase at all. I have to admit that the black coffee table was a very, very pleasant surprise indeed.

The piece of furniture looked way too modern in the catalogue but it blended perfectly in our living room. The black coffee table boasts a merlot finish that offers a slightly reddish hue. This reddish color sets off the red undertones in our leather couch. The shine on the table reflects a little but it doesn’t have the mirror-like finish that I expected.

I was so taken back when I saw the item in the living room that my husband wasn’t quite sure how to take my reaction. I’m not speechless very often but the black coffee table really took my breath away. The whole room finally fell together perfectly and I could relax.

From now on I am going to make sure to keep my mind open to suggestions. If I have learned one thing from the black coffee table it is that you never really know how a piece of furniture will look in a room until you see it for yourself.
