The Truth About A Citronella Candle
I hate mosquitoes! How about you? Yeah, I can pretty much guess your answer is in agreement with mine. If it's not, your name must be Gil Grissom. Get it? Uh anyway, let's ponder the reasons we dislike mosquitoes and a variety of other insects. One; they bite us; and two; they bite us. Well that was easy. I guess we dislike insects and bugs for the obvious reason. There's always that potential thought in the back of our minds that they're going to bite us. It's simply something we can't ignore. So basically we decide to banish and obliterate them the best we can. Whether it be with bug zappers, mosquito magnets, a citronella candle, or some soapy water, we want those little pests gone and out of our territory.
I can't help but wonder how cruel we are to insects, arachnids and bugs. Oh well, I'm over it! The season is drawing near and I'll be sprinkling the lawn with mosquito shield products in no time. I like to make use of all sorts of bug deterrents. But first of all, one thing I make certain of is that there's no water in my yard. This means no bird bath, fancy water features or fountains either. I need my yard to be water-free. If you didn't already know, water attracts bugs like no other. Maybe you currently have a bird bath in your backyard. Well, watch how the insects swarm over top of it in the summertime. It's ridiculous. You can gaze out and see millions in a cloud. Ditch the water and stick out a citronella candle or two. You can buy these in a variety of forms. They sell them in small buckets, which look quite nice on the patio or deck. Or you can buy the basic ingredients and make them yourself. The fumes and smoke they let off keep the mosquitoes at a distance.
To be completely frank, I have to take it to the next level when it comes to summer bugs. A massive homemade citronella candle won't do the trick for me. So while I use these bug deterrents and lawn treatments, I also make use of a quality bug spray. A simple citronella candle may keep the bugs away from my doorstep or patio, but they aren't much good when I'm strolling through the neighborhood or fishing at the community lake. Thank God for DEET!
