The Effectivity Of Mouse Traps
A few weeks ago I set out some glue traps to catch spiders around my house. One day I heard a strange squeaking coming from my laundry room and I went to inspect it. I was horrified to find a tiny mouse stuck in the glue trap. He was still alive and squeaking, trying very hard to escape.
A few tablespoons of vegetable oil and about half an hour later, the little guy was extremely shaken up but free. All in all, it was a pretty difficult ordeal for me because I do have a soft spot for animals. Like most people, a do not want mice in my house and after learning that there were some around, I had to find a more humane way to deal with them.
The traditional mouse trap is rather crude. Although they provide a quick death, I hardly feel that they are a humane option. I have seen a mouse trap that is enclosed so that you do not have to see the mouse. This option may make it easier to deal with but it still kills the animal.
Many people forgo using a mouse trap and instead opt to use d-con or some other type of poison. I think that this option is very cruel because it will subject the mouse to a prolonged and painful death. You also run the risk of having the mouse die in your home and in a place that may be difficult to get to.
If you have a tender heart when it comes to animals, I think that the best option to deal with mice is to buy a live mouse trap. These traps will lure the mice in and keep them safely inside the cage where they the will not be harmed. This way you can release the mouse some place away from your home and not kill the animal.
Having pests in your home may be a simple fact of life. Most of us have some form of animal or insect living in our house that we aren’t a big fan of. Before you wage war on these pests, think through your many options. There are many ways of dealing with mice, and there is a mouse trap out there that will deal with the problem in a way that you can be comfortable with. Please remember the live mouse trap when dealing with mice. There is always a humane option.
